My "surprise" is more of the fact that Morton SHOULD have been able to play a better game this time around based on their returners up front and in the skill positions. Portage did take care of business last year but unfortunately "the ball didn't bounce their way" that night. Last Friday though, the Indians had no bounces to worry about because as you said, they FINISHED.paintballer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:10 pmIf you did not watch the Morton Portage game last year then this years would be a lot more surprising.
Portage dominated Morton last year as well but the second half they finished their drives instead of having two defensive touchdowns by Morton completely flip the script. 32-23 minus 14 for Morton and plus 14 for Portage is 37-18. Virtually the same game with two plays that made a drastic difference.
Morton had over 300 yards rushing last year and the same happened this year. Defensively they stuffed Morton this year but gave up one play TDs and the same thing occurred last year. All 3 of Mortons TDs last year came on fades to Lebron or their other WR who graduated.

That was my surprise as well. I thought with the returning starters on the line they would show more improvement than they did. One of the biggest surprises was the impact the speed of Dontell Harris had on last years game. Missing his speed was crucial.Jimbo23 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:15 pmMy "surprise" is more of the fact that Morton SHOULD have been able to play a better game this time around based on their returners up front and in the skill positions. I found it for you. Former Region Guy made that statement. Get your facts straight before accusing others! In fact, you guys go on to discuss this very point with him in thread. So your butt hurt over his statement, so anyone who has a varying opinion about your beloved gets thrown into Region Guy group?Former Region Guy wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2024 1:35 pmBoone Grove isn't good.
Highland is God awful.
Said it before Munster highland will be the worst talented game in NCC history.
Hobart is a JV team.
Whiting is bad which makes North Newton a pop Warner team.
Can we get off Hanover making a deep run in the playoffs now?
Time will tell if Portage is good.
Here’s my opinion on Hobart, not a world beater 4A school. Team plays with effort, great size, and generally slow. Shearer is difference maker in their otherwise poor offense. They will get handled by HC then early exit in 4A.

Because there is no chance it’s Morton.
And merrillville probably beats Valpo by 20 next week.
People look at the scores and think merrillville in trouble. When in all reality they just aren’t throwing the ball because they don’t need to.
Warsaw has no chance to run on them. Concord can’t either.
The only chance would be Jeff or Valpo. And Valpo idk if they can do it this year. Merrillville should be number 1 ranked at end of this week again. So who? Just curious on your take

You don't think merrillville needed to pass against Michigan City

They really didn’t. They ate us up almost every snap on the run till the 4th qtr. yeah a pass here or there would have made their score widely spread out. But you can tell they are hiding something. I’m not sure if it’s injuries or being cocky. But I’d agree they didn’t need to throw till the 4th I think they only threw 5 passes all game. When your getting 6-8 yards a carry why throw the ball?

yeah they didn'y need to pass if they were running and scoring. You realize Merrilville did not score in the second half/ might not have been since the 1st quarter. they won 14to 12. they don't need to play around. it will comeback and bite them.
