Crown Point Gets a Two For....

Post by VPISU »

Adam Hudak and T.J. Lukasik to CP from Lowell. Hudak will coach Running Backs, H Backs and Special Teams. Lukasik will coach OLBs. Looks like the new broom sweeps clean.

Big take away from this for me: how can other schools expect to compete when CP can hire former head coaches and coordinators to be position coaches for likely at least the very same salary they made for those other positions.

Fundraise better is heck of a starting point. The thing that CP has that many others don't is a COMMUNITY that is interested in supporting athletics equally as eagerly as they are to support academics. People in CP BUY CP merch, CP fundraisers, wear it proudly, and support the Bulldogs. The only other communities that remind me of them are Hobart and Valpo, the Region's most recent State Champ not named Andrean and the most tradition rich NWI community that continually proves it cares. There seems to be a HUGE disconnect in NWI between schools/ football programs and the communities they are a part of. The schools that have this concept figured out, win across the state, and those that don't continue to suffer/ lose.

Agreed.
I am going off of my personal experience back when I coached at CP. The FB program had "X" amount of "paid" positions (paid by the corporation). Our program fund raised a TON and this allowed us to pay more staff. I preferred getting paid not by the corporation. If paid by the corporation, it was built into my teaching salary pay schedule. When I got paid by the fund raised money, I got 2 checks, taxed of course. I would presume CP still has something like a QB Club that organizes this.

I would imagine they do and would presume that Buzz and the QB Club work hand in hand to make sure they have everything they need to be successful, including money for coaches. The recipe is NOT a secret man but administrators and school leaders across The Region think what they're doing is INSANE. No, they (Crown Point) are the normal ones. The rest of us are insane for allowing this to continue in our communities.

I agree with a lot of what you are talking about. They value competitive, high school athletics and do not treat them as intramurals.

I think they are both good additions. Interested to see how CP reloads after losing a good senior class.

On X they have posted twice already about the transfer rule coming from the IHSAA, CP is a closed enrollment school district to my knowledge, odd to promote that from their football twitter account.

As I stated above, they care about and value athletics. If you can play, they'll make sure to get you in. No one wants to say that out loud BUT it is what it is. I'm sure a CP "admin" or "someone with knowledge" will jump in and tell me that "CP doesn't do that" but there's a Girls basketball State Championship in the trophy case that says otherwise. Disclosure: I AM NOT HATING. Just pointing out that schools that play ball tend to win more than those that don't. Buzz isn't a fool. Lol
