Isn't it funny how CP emphasized being good at football and it seems to have elevated all other sports. Yes, some other sports like wrestling were already doing well but it seems all sports are improving there. Football is the single most important sport in your building. It sets the tone and culture for your whole building.

I think they are both good additions. Interested to see how CP reloads after losing a good senior class.

On X they have posted twice already about the transfer rule coming from the IHSAA, CP is a closed enrollment school district to my knowledge, odd to promote that from their football twitter account.
As I stated above, they care about and value athletics. If you can play, they'll make sure to get you in. No one wants to say that out loud BUT it is what it is. I'm sure a CP "admin" or "someone with knowledge" will jump in and tell me that "CP doesn't do that" but there's a Girls basketball State Championship in the trophy case that says otherwise. Disclosure: I AM NOT HATING. Just pointing out that schools that play ball tend to win more than those that don't. Buzz isn't a fool. Lol
My question is how long do they keep up the charade of being "closed enrollment?" If their official twitter is already advertising the portal, how long until a group of parents who live on the north side of town where it's CP address, Merrillville school district get together and lawyer up? For years the company line has been "I know we have a substantially better school district and your kid wants to go to school with his neighborhood friends, but unfortunately you live on the wrong side of 101st Ave so best of luck at Merrillville!" If those kids are still being turned away starting next school year, IMHO think CPHS might encounter some serious blowback.

I guess we are about to find out, right? lol

Transfer rule seems more geared for private schools then public schools unless the public school is open enrollment.

My answer to your question is they will keep up the charade "so long as any litigation does not come along as it relates to your example or another example (who MUST send their kids to LC instead of CP)." I think a group of parents who live in the LC district with a CP address are more likely to come together than those who have to send their kid to Merrillville in the same predicament, for a number of reasons. Totally see what you're saying though and is definitely something that CP admin COULD have to consider unless they have some very creative language in some kind of "enrollment bylaw," which I don't think is a thing? Lol

Transfer rule seems more geared for private schools than public schools unless the public school is open enrollment, or willing to accept student-athletes (especially good ones) like they're a selective open enrollment school.

Just figured I would fix the second statement for you a smidge based on the current flow of the conversation. Lol

There will be a forthcoming Referemndum for our CP community this spring my guess, it will be featuring money to be spend on improving the salary pool for ECA's is my understanding, I am sure it will pass without issues, CP just announced funding summer school again, which was cut previously, with new pathway standards, I believe the email I got was talking about being able to take Health, Govt, Econ online over the summer and providing more credit recovering options. It will be an easy YES for this local tax paying family.

Crown Point is such a COMMUNITY in comparison to SO MANY other NWI towns/ cities. I'm not too sure I've seen anyone post as confidently as you just did about an upcoming referendum. I live in Highland where a referendum was denied (that I voted YES for) while EVERYONE in Highland wants to know why athletics are on a downward trend there or why they decided on open enrollment. The answers to each question can be tied to the failed referendum. Hammond recently, failed a referendum (although I don't ENTIRELY blame the citizens for that one), there's word on the street that the next LC referendum will fail. Lowell's failed. I know some pass and some communities DO CARE. But man, posts like yours Coach are EXACTLY why nearly everyone wants to move to Crown Point. Why wouldn't you?
