He is promoting football players to only play football. The track team was at 40% of their normal numbers. If he doesn't win this year, which he wont, out the door he goes.
As a former multi-sport athlete that played for Roy Richards, I'm willing to bet good money this is undeniably false (the accusation is what I am calling false, not the track and field numbers or lack thereof).

After speaking with some current players recently this is unequivocally false. There were multiple football players who ran track, including those I spoke with.

No AX to grind, I was told by a sports writer than the Portage track coach isn't happy with Roy. All you guys are saying I am wrong. I love how Jimbo says its not true cause that didn't happen when he was at Morton. Going 0-10 probably changes things.
According to sources close to the situation, Jimbo is right again! Also, track coaches at schools that struggle at football ALWAYS (in my experience) tend to have a "problem" with the football coach and 99.9% of the time, it's due to miscommunication between coaches and athletes. I'll bet there's a 0% chance Roy told kids not to run track, play baseball, etc. Did he stress to those multi-sport athletes the importance of weight training throughout the year, including during their other seasons? I'd be willing to bet 100% yes he did... Now, to a 15-17 year old kid, that MIGHT sound like being told not to play the other sport when in all reality, he's telling you that you need to work harder than the other student-athletes. Hence the term, MULTI-SPORT athlete.
