My opinion..

Merrillville is not the number 1 in 5A at this time. We have alot to improve on. Week 3 is gonna be a huge test but I’m leaning CP at the moment. Also believe Valpo is too high. Put valpo at 6/7. Merrillville id put at 2. Chesterton should be receiving some votes too.


The rest of region I think is ranked fairly.

Defensively front four control los and allow LBers to fly all over. It will be interesting to see how they do vs big, talented olines like CP and Valpo. Secondary should and needs to improve especially at safety positions. Andrean found open spots in front of safeties.

Offensively, what a talented rb tandem!! Both those players are very good. Great balance of run and pass. QB is not Mobil at all but is a big arm pocket passer.

Please don’t let anyone fool you about losing talent from last year. This team is reloaded and has potential to win it all in 5A.

Missing 2 WRs.. our wr room is deep this year. But the dropped passes are ridiculous especially since they haven’t dropped all summer. 1st game okay. We will see why it looks like this week.

Not sure I agree. With your WR room being deep. I know you guys rotated alot of them in and out and you return your whole offense 2 years in a row. But watching film from the pirates playing Andrean. The WRs look lazy. And potentially the worst wide receiver core I have seen from a merrillville team to start the year.

After watching the cp game first hand , Cp took their starters out after the 2nd quarter. Their passing game ate us up. They are very balanced and #5 #8 #39 are going to lay havoc with a lot of secondaries.
Now my devils are not what they used to be. QB showed some promise and the running back hits the hole hard. Hard to judge the devils after that game. Hopefully a week of getting better and coaching them up we will fair better against Laporte. Talking from around the coffee shop that 4 away games to start the season, sports area not finished.

Also trying to stretch the truth just a tad, the Pirates only had 1 injury on the offensive side of the ball, a rotational WR.

Actually we have a WR playing with a chipped collar bone that’s a fact.

We have another WR who sat out with a hamstring. That’s a fact.

We lost our best WR to complete knee surgery during Lowell scrimmage (week zero)


And we have a S that has been in conversations with multiple Big ten schools since he started last season.
