Week 4 predictions
Chesterton @ Laporte :
Last meeting: Chesterton 28-7
Chesterton is coming off a game where they lost to Michigan city. Chesterton had no answers on offense for anything that city showed them on defense. Guess that offensive line isn’t as dominant as many people thought. Chesterton rebounds this week in a game they are heavy favorites. Laporte is coming off a 3rd loss in a. Row in the season to a Valparaiso team that handled business as usual against this slicer team. Laporte is not horrible they are just not a threat to anyone in the DAC. They need a coach that will stick around for a while and rebuild not leave after 2 years. Laporte is in for a long season.. Chesterton wins with a running clock to get back in the win column
Chesterton 45-7
Lake central @ crown point:
Last meeting: crown point 42-7
Lake central is coming off a narrow hard fought win over portage. Is lake central finally starting to make the climb back to relevancy? They were able to do some things that were positive. But had some negatives to. Crown point on the other had comes off a dominating win over the merrillville pirates. Crown point threw all one that pirate defense. The motion in the offense had the pirates lost all night. Crown point did struggle In first half to run the ball. And they had issues stopping the run in 1st half. This isn’t your same bulldogs from last year. I’d say the passing is superior to last year and the run took a few steps back but only time will tell! But all the less crown point will dominate this game With a running clock.
Crown point 45-7
Merrillville @ portage:
Last meeting: Merrillville 17-7
Portage comes off a tight lost to lake central and is now 2-1 on the season. They also were able to do some great things in there RPO game against lake central. Portage is now going to be at home this week against a pirate team that’s coming off another blowout loss to crown point back to back years. Will portage have any answers at all for an angry pirate team? Merrillville enters this game with probably a huge chip on there shoulder after a blowout loss to crown point! Many expected the blowout loss including myself. But I wanted it to be close. Merrillville enters this game wanting to stake claims that there are only 2 teams that matter in the Duneland this year. Merrillville offense was able to move the ball in the first half but had a few drives killed by back to back 15 yard penalties. It needs to be cleaned up. But not worried about the pirate offense as I have said for weeks. The pirate defense on the other hand ran a completely different formation than I have ever seen them run in a few years. Not sure why but we got spanked in the pass game with it out there. Kids looked lost like they had just installed it. But doesn’t matter pirates lost that game fair and square. The pirates will come into this game to prove they are 2nd best. Merrillville has no issues stopping the RPO!
Sorry portage but your on the tracks with a train coming through. Merrillville with a statement win.
Merrillville 42 - 7
Game of week:
Valpo @ Michigan city:
Last meeting: Valpo 26-7
Valpo comes off a dominating and boring win over the Laporte slicers. They had there way all the way around the field. Even the special teams as Laporte had a negative yards punt. And no it wasn’t blocked. Did Valpo figure anything out or was this just a dominating win because Laporte is that far off in DAC football? Michigan city answered a few questions with there shutout win over Chesterton. The city defense silenced the ground game of the Trojans and was able to move the ball enough to score. The city defense looks like a top 3 defense in the DAC but the offense still hasn’t shown anything special yet. This game will have eyes on it. Who will be the one as the front runner to facing the pirates in the regional?
Some won’t agree with me and no matter who I pick they will say I’m hating on the other teams but I said it once and I’ll say it again. Valpo defense is non existent and there offense is just not there against good defenses. City defense will chit down the run and give up a few passing plays but I think they do enough to get the win.
City wins 21-17
