Re: DAC Job Opening
You guys are in good hands with Richards. I fully expect him to have you guys competing at a high level in the not too distant future.
Re: DAC Job Opening
So... if all of this is true where is the disconnect? As far as a program with better success I'll bet you can't touch Hobart for Pop Warner all the way to MS. There has to be a reason Portage can't field a successful varsity team?Fadely23 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 1:50 amWell if it’s about feeder programs then can you name a better one then portage since 2019? No youth program has had more success than we have. As for varsity, we were starting 8 and sometimes 9 sophomores. Even with that our JV team still went 6-3. We have a very loaded 2026 class, we will see what happens I suppose.

What are the barriers that Roy has to overcome for a successful program?BallinFreak wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 3:11 amYou guys are in good hands with Richards. I fully expect him to have you guys competing at a high level in the not too distant future.

Nutsy being cryptic and provocative.
CP - Buzea is old and documented health issues, so not a complete surprise if he retires but I don’t think so. Not yet.
LC - Good a young up and coming coach that has done a good job at LC. Illinois Catholic league roots. Another one that would not be a surprise.
Valpo - Marshall is top tier coach with college and high school experience. Another one that could go elsewhere and not be a surprise.
Portage - Richard’s too new to role. Not going anywhere. Probably his last rodeo.
Merrillville - Seiss. There are rumors about him every year. Not a shock if he leaves but I doubt it. He’s got a good thing going at Merrillville.
Laporte - no change.
Chesterton - no idea. A program that feels like has always been a middle of the road program in DAC regardless of coach.
Michigan City - no idea

I would say all of those are barriers that every coach/team has to battle.Nutsy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 2:24 pmWhat are the barriers that Roy has to overcome for a successful program?BallinFreak wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 3:11 amYou guys are in good hands with Richards. He has a history of being able to overcome barriers at Morton and put a successful team on the field. Portage has the guys to be successful. I think he will get them there.
