Crown point @ Penn:
Last meeting:
34-33 crown point (regionals 2023)
This is a rematch of last years regional where crown point squeaked out a 1 point win on there road to a state runner up position!
Crown point enters this game off a win over portage 35-0; Penn enters this game with a win over lake central 35-7
Crown point has dominated everyone they have played this year. Offensively they are fundamentally sound and don’t make many mistakes. Defensively they are a downhill aggressive defense. Penn on the other hand has been up and down all season! They have shown flashes of being unstoppable during the season but then the next game they come out super flat. Penn is gonna have to play great disciplined football to compete in this game. They need to bottle up crown point to the inside and not let anything go to the outside to have a chance. Unfortunately I don’t think Penn is consistent enough to make this game close this year. Crown point should finally play there team 4qtrs but it should be a comfortable win.
Crown point wins 40-24
5A:
Merrillville @ Hammond Morton:
Last meeting:
Merrillville 42-18 (sectional title 2023)
Merrillville enters this game with a 63-6 win over Hammond central! Hammond Morton enters this game with a 35-20 win over Munster!
Both of these teams enter of longer winning streaks as merrillville is on a 7 game win streak! And Morton is on a 5 game win streak.
Merrillville is getting healthy and adding more weapons to there offense as the season goes on. I’m not sure this team has hit the peak yet and are climbing at the right time! The defense has been fantastic the last 5 weeks and the offense is only getting better. Hammond Morton on the other hand has the athletes on offense that can cause problems with multiple D1s lining up (Harris, woods, hill) being a couple. But there defense hasn’t shown they are capable of stopping any good teams this year. These two teams are full of players that know each other so I expect a fun atmosphere Friday night. But to sum this up. Merrillville will not only win this game it will be over by the half.
Merrillville wins this game
48-14
Game of the week:
Chesterton @ Valpo:
Last meeting:
Valpo 22-21 OT (week 5 2023)
Valpo enters this matchup with an easy win over Laporte 35-7; Chesterton enters this matchup from a dogfight with Michigan city 28-21 in overtime!
This matchup was fun to watch in the regular season and I’m sure it will be lights out again. These two teams know each other well. Not only is it a rivalry game. But this is for the sectional title also. Chesterton played there game Friday night without there best workhorse running back! Valpo was probably able to rest some players as Laporte hasn’t been that competitive this year! Valpo has owned this sectional for years now! Chesterton is still looking for there 1st ever sectional title in football. Can they get it? You have to give Valpo the slight edge in this matchup because if experience and coaching. But watch out if Chesterton gets there running back to return! This game is a toss up to me. But…..
Chesterton goes on the road and defeats Valpo to win there 1st sectional title and gets to host the merrillville pirates for regionals!!
Chesterton 31-28

Jimbo, are you using a crystal ball, the old Mojo Chicken Bones, or throwing darts at the wall chart?
